Dallas Cowboys placekicker Brett Maher has NFL experience. The 2013 New York Jets signed him as an undrafted free agent.
He was released by the Cowboys after playing in the preseason as Dan Bailey recovered from an injury.
Maher played for CFL powerhouses such the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Ottawa Redblacks, and Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the following years. In 2018, the Cowboys re-signed him to reduce Dan Bailey’s off-season workload.
He missed his first NFL field goal attempt against the Panthers in his 2018 Cowboys debut (47 yards). He ignored this and made 15 consecutive field goals.

After a rough start to 2019, he established NFL career (3) and single-season (2) records for most field goals over 60 yards.
He later played for the New York Jets, Washington Commanders, Arizona Cardinals, New Orleans Saints, and Houston Texans before returning to the Cowboys in 2022.
He missed only three kicks in the Cowboys’ regular season, but he missed four of five extra points in the Wild Card Game against Tom Brady’s Buccaneers. He missed four extra points in a game, an NFL record.
